None of the new electric cars are planning to use old-tech lead acid batteries. Wind, hydro, DC transmission lines, and smart grid electronics are also Portland strengths. In most conversions cost is about the same because of needless weight. Current batteries in new Toyota hybridsare ~$3000 if they need to be replaced.
