Hamburger Hochbahn AG has acquired four Mercedes-Benz Citaro FuelCELL Hybrids under the German “NaBuZ demo” scheme to promote sustainable bus systems for the future. Demonstration of the Citaro FuelCELL Hybrid buses as part of the NaBuZ demo project is to take place on Hochbahn’s regular service routes.

Our target during this project has always been a field demonstration, putting it out in the field with used batteries and appropriate electronics to support the grid. The first step toward this field demo is to build a lab prototype. The Volt battery is charged and discharged according to a use profile appropriate to the application.
