Power Integrations, a provider of high-voltage integrated circuits (ICs) for energy-efficient power conversion, has added two new AEC-Q100 qualified, 1700-volt rated ICs to its InnoSwitch3-AQ family. 800-volt batteries are becoming standard for EVs. Devices are priced at $5.64

This is contingent on electric range and electric power, both of which must allow for driving in everyday traffic with battery power only. The electric motor has a maximum power of 160 kW and a continuous output of 80 kW. Forty-eight-volt drives can be installed on several locations in the driveline. Mild hybrids.

Put another way, the fuel cell technology is being developed so as to work as components in the MQB (transverse) kit, the development of which is led by the Volkswagen brand, and the MLB (longitudinal) kit being driven by Audi. General Motors Chevy Volt series PHEV, which it calls "extended range electric vehicle" (EREV), part of "E-Flex" multi-fuel platform. See Chevy Volt for latest. Now Lutz envisions selling hundreds of thousands of Volts a year, probably priced below $30,000. I want to stick around to see the Volt come to market.
