With General Motors and Chrysler also showing signs of modest improvement, all looked rosy. According to Knittel the results suggest that the programme is an expensive way to reduce carbon, although he does state that it is possible the stimulus benefits outweigh added environmental costs. So is this scheme green at all?

Electric car supporters are rising to defend General Motors’ development of the Chevy Volt after the Obama Administration’s automotive task force proclaimed that the car was probably too expensive to be commercially successful in the near future. .&# Those cars will reduce oil demand at most by about 1/5th of one percent.
