Industry officials expect that this $2.4 billion in cost-share from the award winners, will result directly in the creation tens of thousands of manufacturing jobs in the US battery and auto industries. Production of advanced lead-acid batteries, using lead-carbon electrodes for micro and mild hybrid applications.

Additionally, I had a close frind out in California that just about creamed in his pants when he was able to lease one. 80 miles was the range of the EV1 with Lead Acid batteries, that GM tried to use because they wanted the project to fail.
