Audi is adding a new member to its A3 family: the A3 Sportback 30 g-tron natural gas vehicle. Audi first introduced an A3 Sportback g-tron in 2014. Power is transferred to the front wheels via the standard seven-speed S tronic. Audi sources the CO 2 from an adjacent biogas plant that recycles agricultural waste.

To source the new lightweight track-capable carbon fiber wheels that are standard on the new Shelby GT350R Mustang, Ford partnered with Australia-based Carbon Revolution. Carbon Revolution first began delivering composite wheels in 2004 for Formula SAE campaigns. Ford, however, wanted more of a mass-production solution.

Audi is showcasing an electric off-roader concept at IAA 2019: the Audi AI:TRAIL quattro. The AI: TRAIL joins the other three exploratory use case vehicles—the Audi Aicon, AI:ME, and AI:RACE—on Audi’s stand. As is typical for Audi, the off-roader is therefore a true quattro. Lights and drones.

Marking the first victory of a hybrid vehicle at Le Mans, the Audi R18 e-tron quattro ( earlier post ), equipped with Williams Hybrid Power’s (WHP) electromechanical hybrid flywheel system, took the top two spots at the 80 th running of the endurance race over the weeken. The win was Audi’s 11 th Le Mans victory.
