Audi is adding a new member to its A3 family: the A3 Sportback 30 g-tron natural gas vehicle. Audi first introduced an A3 Sportback g-tron in 2014. Three CNG tanks arranged perpendicular to the direction of travel are located in the rear of the Audi A3 Sportback 30 g-tron. The inner layer is a gas-tight polyamide vessel.

Audi has introduced the natural-gas-fueled A4 Avant g-tron; dealers in Europe will begin taking orders for the midsize model starting in early summer 2017. Following on the heels of the introduction of the second-generation A5 in June ( earlier post ), Audi has now introduced the new A5 and S5 Sportback coupé models. In a new departure, the A5 Sportback is also available as a bivalent g-tron, which customers can run on either Audi e-gas ( earlier post ), natural gas or gasoline.

Volkswagen unveiled the Golf Sportwagen HyMotion hydrogen fuel cell hybrid research vehicle demonstrator yesterday at the Los Angeles Auto Show ( earlier post ). Volkswagen has also built several research vehicles based on the US version of the Passat using the same hydrogen drivetrain components as fitted in the Golf SportWagen HyMotion.
