Combined sales of all hybrid models, which included the new Fusion and Milan hybrids, totalled 2,299 - up 21 per cent compared to sales a year ago. General Motors - GM dealers in the US delivered 173,007 vehicles, down 34 per cent compared to the prior year. Just 222 Altima Hybrids were sold during the month.

Sales of the company’s hybrids totalled 3,906 setting three new sales records. General Motors: Despite concerns about its future, GM performed relatively well with 190,881 light duty vehicle sales - a decrease of 29 per cent. per cent for Nissan North America, down to 67,489 units.

Nissan: Until recently Nissan’s only contribution to the green car explosion was the Altima Hybrid, produced in collaboration with Toyota. As part of a partnership with Renault, Nissan will launch the LEAF in Europe and North America in 2010 before a global release in 2012 (see article ). Faye Sunderland.
