Its hybrid sales marked the first full month of sales for the Honda Insight and so grew by 25.5 Nissan - Nissan North America reported sales of 47,190 - a decrease of 37.8 Just 222 Altima Hybrids were sold during the month. Its total of 12,223 hybrid vehicles sold represented a 62.8 per cent year on year.

The new Honda Insight did help to boost sales however - 2,780 models were sold meaning hybrid sales of Honda cars increased by 3.5 per cent for Nissan North America, down to 67,489 units. The Altima remained the volume leader although sales of the Altima Hybrid dropped by 78.5 Nissan: Sales fell by 33.1

Nissan: Until recently Nissan’s only contribution to the green car explosion was the Altima Hybrid, produced in collaboration with Toyota. As part of a partnership with Renault, Nissan will launch the LEAF in Europe and North America in 2010 before a global release in 2012 (see article ).
