This week, the Virginia Department of Transportation (DOT) announced the first round of National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) federal grant winners.

The NEVI Formula program requires EV charging stations to be available every 50 miles and within one travel mile of the Alternative Fuel Corridor. Tennessee has $88 million in federal grant money for TDOT and TDEC to dole out over five years to expand its EV charging network.

The FCCC electric WIV also marks the first commercial vehicle application of a Tesla Motors Li-ion battery pack, which provide up to a 100-mile driving range on a single charge. Powered by Tesla Motors’ lithium-ion batteries, the chassis is 100% electric, including the HVAC system. FCCC is the first company within the industry to utilize Tesla batteries for commercial applications. The battery pack provides up to a 100-mile (161 km) driving range on a single charge.
