While the number of scrap tires generated each year grew by almost 7%, the total number of scrap tires recycled or reclaimed has not significantly changed since 2017. Michelin, Bridgestone and Continental use recycled carbon black (rCB) to produce new tires.

In October 2013, Panasonic and Tesla had already expanded their 2011 supply agreement so that Panasonic will supply nearly 2 billion automotive-grade lithium-ion battery cells to Tesla through 31 December 2017 at long-term preferential prices. Finalists for the Gigafactory location are Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.

These efforts include fuel testing and validation, lifecycle analysis and support for Joule’s production facility in Hobbs, New Mexico, where demonstration-scale production of ethanol is underway. This will lead to the longer-term build-out of a 1,000-acre plant to begin in 2017.
