In October 2013, Panasonic and Tesla had already expanded their 2011 supply agreement so that Panasonic will supply nearly 2 billion automotive-grade lithium-ion battery cells to Tesla through 31 December 2017 at long-term preferential prices. Finalists for the Gigafactory location are Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.

With the e-tron services in the Audi connect portfolio, drivers can use their smartphones to control such functions as charging and heating or cooling. Operation is by voice, with the multifunction steering wheel or with the brand new MMI all-in-touch, the touchpad with haptic feedback. Market launch is scheduled to begin in 2017.
