Teijin’s Sereebo now in use for GM as first CFRTP for high-volume production vehicles

Teijin Limited announced that its Sereebo carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic (CFRTP) has been selected by General Motors (GM) for use in select pickup box applications. Sereebo used for CarbonPro contains randomly-orientated, isotropic carbon fiber in a polyamide matrix resin.

Toyota moves to expand mass-production of fuel cell stacks and hydrogen tanks towards ten-fold increase post-2020

Toyota’s hydrogen tanks are made of extra-thick carbon fiber and are built to withstand major impacts. Annual production and sales have increased yearly, going from about 700 units in 2015, to around 2,000 units in 2016, and, most recently, approximately 3,000 units in 2017.

A first test setup located near Ingolstadt recently started supplying the grid. A container for four traction batteries of various sizes works in tandem with a photovoltaic system that is capable of supplying up to 20 kW of power on sunny days. Market launch is scheduled to begin in 2017. The company hopes to launch AWC in 2017.
