Euro car market has best H1 of century; diesels down 17%; AFVs up 31% for 5.4% of total; SUVs booming

Diesel’s biggest declines took place in Norway (-32%), the UK (-30%), Slovenia (-28%), Finland (-20%) and Belgium (-20%).

Reports highlight ongoing advances in vehicle technology, consumer demand for fuel efficiency in US and Europe

Thirty-two (24%) have a model that meets the 2017 standard and 12 models (9%) already meet the 2025 standard. Hungary and Belgium were the only two EU Member States where cars sold in 2012 were on average less efficient than those sold the year before. New vehicle technology is becoming more efficient, which is an encouraging sign.
