Acura unveiled the restyled and refreshed 2017 MDX luxury SUV at the New York International Auto Show, adding available Sport Hybrid Super Handling-All Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) powertrain technology as a model option. Acura’s first hybrid SUV, the 2017 MDX Sport Hybrid ( earlier post ), will arrive at showrooms in early April with more than 30 additional horsepower and a 45 percent higher EPA city fuel economy rating as compared to the conventionally-powered MDX SH-AWD. The 2017 MDX was designed by the Acura Design Studio in Torrance, Calif.

We were surprised to cross the 30 mpg mark for this 3,915-pound, five-passenger midsize SUV.

Ready to take its place among the premium crowd.

That will tell you how much energy your vehicle needs to travel 100 miles, a more accurate measurement than our traditional fuel economy (mpg) numbers. Still a bit of a mystery.
