Volkswagen founds mobility services company in Rwanda; to begin local assembly of Polo and Passat

Rwanda does not currently have an established vehicle industry. Vehicle assembly began in Nigeria in 2015, and in Kenya in December 2016. With the integrated mobility concept, Volkswagen intends to provide a new impetus for the development of individual mobility.

TUM, partners to present electric aCar prototype at IAA; transport for sub-Saharan Africa

The IEEE Life Fellow was elected the 2016–2017 society president and 2021 Division II director. Keynote speakers are from academia as well as industry—many of them women. The society also has increased membership in Kenya, Nigeria, Tunisia, Uganda, and Zambia. It then took a decade until a second woman was selected to serve.

Global Mobility Report finds world not on track to achieving sustainable mobility

Among roughly 160 Nationally Determined Contributions representing 187 countries that submitted them as of 1 August 2016, 75% explicitly identify the transport sector as a mitigation source for reducing GHGs, and more than 63% of NDCs propose transport sector-specific mitigation measures. Non-Annex I countries averaged 4.8% from 2008–2012.
