The next-generation Nissan Frontier midsize pickup truck may get EV and plug-in hybrid variants, the latter using Mitsubishi tech, Automotive News reports. Nissan and Mitsubishi have been corporate allies since 2016, and the current-generation Nissan Rogue and Mitsubishi Outlander crossovers use a common platform.

At the 2016 Paris Motor Show in October, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) will unveil a new “Ground Tourer Concept” high-end plug-in hybrid SUV coupé. The reveal will follow on the introduction of the “Concept XR PHEV II” at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and the “eX Concept” at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) will launch a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model of the all-new Outlander crossover SUV with a new-generation PHEV system. Outlander PHEV launched in the US in 2016 as a 2017 model-year vehicle. The gasoline model of the all-new Outlander was released in North America in April 2021.

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) delivered 635 Outlander PHEV vehicles to the National Police of Ukraine on 25 May through its local importer and distributor MMC Ukraine. The vehicle order stems from an emissions trading agreement signed by a number of Japanese companies with the Government of Ukraine.

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) announced that through its local importer and distributor MMC Ukraine, MMC will supply the National Police of Ukraine with 635 units of the Outlander PHEV. Mitsubishi has extensively revised the Outlander PHEV for 2017. These vehicles are to be delivered around July 2017.

Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) has selected Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. The total budget of the demonstration project, to be conducted for a period through March 2016, is expected to be near ¥5 billon (US$65.2 MHI), Hitachi, Ltd. an ICT provider.
