The hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle re-fuels in 3–5 minutes, travels up to 300 miles (482 km) on a full tank, and will be available to customers in California beginning in fall 2015. Toyota is using a NiMH battery in the Mirai. The electric traction motor delivers 113 kW (152 hp) and 335 N·m (247 lb-ft) of torque.

So imagine a million electric cars on US roads which all need to change these batteries in say 2015. Even so, most next gen EV manufacturers are focused on lithium ion (and to a lesser extent NiMH) as the core technology to power their cars. Chevron owns the NiMH patents and have not allowed EV size batts to be built.
