The first, a Saturn Vue called the eMOOve, will be a series hybrid, to be completed in 2012. By 2013, the team will also convert its Chevy Equinox, called MOOVADA, to be a parallel hybrid, in which the battery and the engine work together. The team is converting two of its former competition vehicles for this purpose.

As part of the culling, GM has the option to re-badge vehicles from the non-core brands, such as the Pontiac G8, Opel Insignia and Saturn Vue. John Hoffecker of AlixPartners predicts that in 2013 the US market will return to “normal” and be 15-16 million units/year. GM needs 20% of the market to survive which translates to 3-3.5
