The battery pack holds more energy than the 22 kWh pack in BMW’s original i3 electric car that debuted in 2012. When it’s time to stop, the Strike can absorb Level 3 juice at up to 120 kilowatts. That’s closer to a 50 percent recharge than the company’s 60 percent (from 20-to-80 percent) claim.

Since it was not a Level 2 charger, I knew it would not gain much juice overnight. On the last day I knew I would have to get a full charge to make it back to Heathrow and leave it with enough juice for the driver who would collect it. Currently the only other cars with an 800-volt systems are the Porsche Taycan and Audi E-Tron GT.
