The program is a prelude to the limited retail market launch of the Fit EV with customers in California and Oregon this summer. In one of GM’s more recent patent applications on motor control (2012), the inventors assert that speed control and damping control should be integrated, as decoupled damping and speed controls can produce discontinuities in the applied motor torque. The battery-electric 2013 Honda Fit EV ( earlier post ) will be available for lease beginning 20 July 2012, with a three-year lease price of $389 per month. With seating for five, the 2012 Prius Plug-in hybrid is expected to achieve a manufacturer-estimated 87 mpge (miles per gallon equivalent) in combined driving and 49 mpg in hybrid mode, or 2.7 As a result, driving performance for the 2012 Prius Plug-in Hybrid will be similar to the standard Prius.

Honda unveiled the all-new 2013 Fit EV at the Los Angeles Auto Show, and announced plans to begin leasing the battery electric commuter vehicle in the US in the summer of 2012. American Honda will begin leasing the Fit EV to customers in select California and Oregon markets next summer, and will expand to six East Coast markets in early 2013.
