A national phone survey by the Mineta Transportation Institute (MTI) found that a majority of Americans would support higher taxes for. The survey results show that very low support levels for a one-time gas-tax increase or a new mileage tax can be raised by modifying how the tax is structured and the way it is described.

There is no room for them to hide the taxes or blame it on successful "rich" people. Deliveries start in 2011. The Democrats have reached too far.

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has suggested a mileage tax for drivers as a way to pay for the Obama administration’s plans to spend $556 billion over six years on transportation projects. But Americans nationwide remain firmly opposed to a tax based on the number of miles they drive, according to Rasmussen findings.
