The consumption scenarios are technically achievable but do not reflect significant barriers such as cost, regulation, legality, and consumer acceptance. Ethanol may affect elastomeric components (elastic polymers, or rubber- and plastic- like materials) in vehicles by changing their dimensions and by reacting with the material.
