The 2010 HS 250h, Lexus’ first dedicated hybrid and the fourth offering in its lineup ( earlier post ), will carry an MSRP for the standard version of $34,200, while the Premium model will carry an MSRP of $36,970. The HS 250h has the best combined EPA mpg rating of any luxury vehicle in the US.

Lexus was quick to realise the potential of hybrids in its lineup, and it launched the HS 250h back in 2010, its first dedicated hybrid model, with no non-hybrid alternative. Two years on, the 2012 Lexus HS 250h tries to give consumers the best of both worlds--Lexus luxury and hybrid gas mileage.

Lincoln’s new MKZ Hybrid ( earlier post ) will be priced the same as its conventional gas sibling when it goes on sale this fall, with an MSRP starting at $35,180, including destination and delivery. Audi announced pricing for the 2010 A3 TDI, its second US clean diesel offering launched this year. Audi notes that the Lexus HS 250h offers similar combined fuel economy with hybrid technology (EPA estimated 35/34 mpg US city/highway) but not the highway mileage range. Toyota plans to introduce 10 new hybrid models between now and 2012 in various global markets, with sales of one million gas-electric hybrids per year, worldwide, sometime early in the next decade. Spring 2009 will mark the launch of the third-generation Prius, followed by the summer arrival of the second-generation 2010 Lexus RX 450h.
