Ford is infusing its European product range with new generations of more efficient gasoline and diesel engines, led by the introduction of two 4-cylinder Ford EcoBoost gasoline units. liter Ford EcoBoost will be launched in the all-new C-MAX and Grand C-MAX models in late 2010, followed by the next-generation Focus in early 2011.

As the trend toward cleaner technologies with reduced exhaust emissions continues through the use of catalytic converters, diesel particulate filters (DPF), and improved fuels and engines, non-exhaust PM will soon surpass exhaust emissions and may well become dominant by 2020 both in terms of emissions and contributions to air quality.

On the basis of unadjusted emission totals, the following 11 Member States reported exceedances of their NEC Directive national ceilings for one or more pollutants in 2015: Austria; Belgium; Denmark; Finland; France; Germany; Hungary; Ireland; Luxembourg; Spain; and Sweden. Six Member States exceeded their NO x emission ceilings in 2015.

In Europe, a new report from the European Environment Agency (EEA) found that the average car sold in the EU in 2012 was 9% more fuel-efficient than the average three years before, due to improved technology and an increase in the share of diesel cars. Diesel vehicles represent 55% of the newly registered vehicle fleet. CFA report.
