In 2009, the State fleet began reducing vehicle miles traveled (VMT) with the elimination of 2,121 vehicle home storage permits. In 2009, the Department of General Services (DGS) began requiring State agencies to utilize the Fleet Asset Management System (FAMS) that DGS developed to collect vital fleet metrics.
