The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) categorizes the incident as a “major spill”—i.e., Approximately 4,500 barrels of oil and water (189,000 gallons US) have been recovered. In 2006, its reversal was completed, and in 2009, ExxonMobil completed a project that increased its capacity by 50% (about 30,000 barrels per day).
