The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) categorizes the incident as a “major spill”—i.e., In 2006, its reversal was completed, and in 2009, ExxonMobil completed a project that increased its capacity by 50% (about 30,000 barrels per day). The pipeline has been shut in and crews are working to contain the spill.
