TRU gensets are typically engine-powered generators designed to provide power to electrically driven refrigeration units. A few distribution centers are using refrigerated trailers equipped with all-electric stationary TRUs (e.g. Carrier Transicold’s Vector 8100) that are plugged into the electric power grid while in use.

GM has announced plans for public sales in 2010, and almost every carmaker now says it will sell PHEVs or highway-speed battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sometime after 2010. Several dozen prototypes on 15-passenger van since 2004; now in second generation development; no production plans. todays answer is "Yes -- but not yet."
