General Motors has announced its intention to mass-produce two PHEVs -- a Saturn VUE SUV, and the Chevy Volt, a series hybrid (where only the electric motor powers the wheels and the gasoline engine recharges the batteries).

A chemist and government researcher, Wang raised some $300,000 from relatives, rented about 2,000 square meters of space, and set out to manufacture rechargeable batteries to compete with imports from Sony and Sanyo. Wang entered the automobile business in 2003 by buying a Chinese state-owned car company that was all but defunct.

Please feel free to tell us what you believe to be the benefits of some of the various recharging modes mentioned above in the comments section below. Vancouvers trolley bus fleet operates at 600 volts and god knows how many amps. I would prefer to recharge at home, and could do so. It does not reflect well upon you.
