Ford targeting 30% reduction in water used per vehicle by 2015

Ford plans to cut the amount of water used to make each vehicle 30% globally by 2015, compared with the amount of water used per vehicle in 2009. If Ford meets the 30% goal, the amount of water used to make a vehicle will have dropped from 9.5 m 3 (2,510 gallons US) in 2000 to approximately 3.5 Reducing water use.

DOE seeking feedback on findings of hydrogen production and delivery workshops

The purpose was to discuss and share information on the RD&D needs for enabling low-cost, effective hydrogen production from all types of water electrolysis systems, both centralized and forecourt. AEM systems have been tested up to 2000 hours, and have identified improved voltage stability as a need.

Ford has completed the build on the first vehicle (a 2013 Fusion) with the engine, and is starting calibration development. The original envisioned architecture was 1.8L Peak power.

ONR developing offensive autonomous swarming capability for unmanned surface vehicles; adapting JPL’s CARACaS

In a 2008 brief on CARACaS, JPL engineers noted that the software was potentially applicable to diverse robotic systems that could include aircraft, spacecraft, ground vehicles, surface water vessels, and/or underwater vessels. The Navy has extensively tested CARACaS on USVs and Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs) over the last eight years.
