2010 Prius designed to be manufactured with NiMH or Lithium batteries. The Omori factory currently produces NiMH cells. The resulting fuel efficiency improvements mean lower CO2 emissions and less fossil fuel consumption and, therefore, less pollution. Says demand and whether people will plug in remain to be proven.
