US Department of Transportation proposes ‘distraction’ guidelines for automakers for in-vehicle electronic devices

The proposal comes in the wake of the December 2011 call by the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) following a Board meeting on a 2010 multi-vehicle highway accident in Gray Summit, Missouri, for the first-ever nationwide ban on driver-use of personal electronic devices (PEDs) while operating a motor vehicle.
