[ That is, PHEVLERs can store electricity whenever sun and wind-generated electricity is plentiful, and then can send stored power back into the smart grid at times when more electric power is needed.

Other than sports car wanna-bes, modern cars are so quiet that you hear tire/wind noise much more than engines. Glad to see the variety & availability of electic commuter cars (vs hybrids & PHEV) is rising. My personal criteria for an EV is 80/80 MPH/miles range, but thats because drivers either go 80 or stopped around here. But isnt that what our progressive government is for, to stimulate beneficial technology and break bottlenecks.
