This was granted to Amir Ban, Dov Moran, and Oron Ogdan in November 2000. Somewhat less credibly, inventors in Malaysia and China have also claimed to be the first to come up with the thumb drive. Despite this collaboration, Netac subsequently sought and was granted a patent on the thumb drive within China.
