Fortunately, one of my fellow contributing editors at the magazine is a bundle of answers. There are also, incidentally, income tax credits at the federal and state levels for installation of EV charging equipment. It doesn't cover the whole thing, but you do get a chunk of it back as a tax credit.

Tax credit incentives are also available to consumers in the U.S. market b y the end of 2009. The customer will only pay a monthly fee about $240 (US Dollars) which includes a full maintenance service agreement; carbon offset payments and in some countries even all electricity used, and insurance.
