None of the new electric cars are planning to use old-tech lead acid batteries. She spent the previous year as a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University, and before that she was the Southwest correspondent for The Economist based in Austin, Tex. Current batteries in new Toyota hybridsare ~$3000 if they need to be replaced.
