REVA was established in Bangalore in 1994 as a joint venture between the Maini Group of Bangalore, India and AEV LLC of California, US. Its REVA electric vehicle was first commercially available in Bangalore in 2001 and in London in 2004, under the G-Wiz brand.

The current model, REVAi, marketed in the UK as G-Wiz i, has a range of up to 80 km and a top speed of 80 km/h. REVA is a Bangalore-based company formed as a joint venture between Maini Group of India and AEV LLC of California and is venture-backed by lead US investors Global Environment Fund and Draper Fisher Jurveston.

Slow, clunky, even potentially “life-threatening” – these are just a handful of the insults that have been thrown the way of electric car maker REVA and particularly its G-Wiz model. Its interior is a significant improvement on the G-Wiz and the back seat comfortably fits two adults. Bouncing back.

It has given a £27million grant to Land Rover to help it produce a new hybrid SUV that has been code-named LRX and should help the Jaguar-Land Rover group reach a new audience. In addition, the Government has shown that it is willing to offer strong backing to car manufacturers that adopt a green stance and bring jobs to the UK.
