Ford is opening an E-Transit registration site today for commercial customers ahead of order banks opening by July. E-Transit is an electrified version of Ford Transit, America’s best-selling commercial van. It will be built alongside the Transit at Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo, Missouri.

Ford, with design and testing consultation from 3M, has developed a new powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR). Production of this PAPR starts today at Ford’s Vreeland facility near Flat Rock, Mich., Ford also is now producing face masks and leading an effort to scale production of reusable gowns for health care workers.

After an abortive effort to offer a third-party electric conversion of the first-generation Transit Connect, Ford hasn’t done another compact EV delivery van. Taking their time It’s taken a while to get electric vans into the US market at all.
