The CEC updates its Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEV) sales figures quarterly by analyzing DMV data. Specifically, cumulative sales through the end of 2021 were: 663,014 BEV (62.9%). 379,125 PHEV (36% ). For sales in 2021 only, the shares were: 183,933 BEV (73.5%). 63,141 PHEV (25.2%). From CEC New ZEV Sales dashboard.

An additional 78 model variants comprising hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), PHEVs, and BEVs also meet the 2020 or later standards. Through August 2016, nearly 230,000 ZEVs and PHEVs have been registered in California, with an additional 62,000 in nine Section 177 states that have adopted California’s ZEV regulation.

I wish the thing was for sale as-is. Well they did give brief bursts of acceleration through the parking lot to show that it does have some Roadster goodness to it. But yes, there was no slalom to see how it handles the twisties. It is probably a real rocket compared to the Daimler version that will eventually show up. Follow us on Twitter!
