The data analyzed by Aston University combines and compares the behavior patterns of 25 Mitsubishi i-MiEV drivers over two consecutive quarters. This data will also be used to map out a future network of electric charging points, to further extend range and improve the convenience of electric vehicles.

The head of Chryslers ENVI division, Lou Rhodes, told AutoblogGreen this morning that Chrysler is marketing this battery-only version of the van to commercial fleet customers who typically have shorter range requirements. The extended-range version will be focused on retail customers. Looks sharp.

Also, besides giving you the ability to charge at night when most utility rates are lower, future vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology may allow you to sell some of your stored energy back to the utilities. For extended range I guess one could carry a fairly modest generator set in the trunk to avoid ever being stranded.
