I wish the thing was for sale as-is. Competition is going to force them to produce a comfortable, usable, extended range EV for that price, and I will just have to wait. Well they did give brief bursts of acceleration through the parking lot to show that it does have some Roadster goodness to it.

The head of Chryslers ENVI division, Lou Rhodes, told AutoblogGreen this morning that Chrysler is marketing this battery-only version of the van to commercial fleet customers who typically have shorter range requirements. The extended-range version will be focused on retail customers.

For extended range I guess one could carry a fairly modest generator set in the trunk to avoid ever being stranded. Companies like ECOtality are already working with Nissan, which seems to have given up on battery swapping. my idea is that it would work the way propane tanks work now. Follow us on Twitter!
