This means the massively popular Escalade will be gone or reengineered, as well as the CT4 and CT5 sedans, and all the XT SUV models. Cadillac says “the sense of occasion that is of an Escalade is repeated in Lyriq.”

The Audi E-Tron starts at $67,000, the Jaguar i-Pace at $70,000, the Porsche Taycan at $83,000, and the Tesla Model X at $90,000. Total cost of ownership of EVs is generally less than an ICE vehicle over its expected life since they have lower maintenance costs and electricity is less expensive per mile than gasoline, and tax incentives and rebates help a lot as well. Right now, there is a dearth of EV-certified mechanics and repair shops.
