The utility is participating in a national consortium that recently was awarded a federal stimulus grant to purchase plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and the company is buying more trucks to run on compressed natural gas (CNG) as well. The matching stimulus grant will provide up to $2.5 million for the vehicle conversions.

The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) also has signed an LOI to provide USPS integration tools. Each has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Chrysler to equip post offices in strategically selected regions of the United States with a charging infrastructure for the envisioned program.

The value of the ESG market is now measured by using the value of energy ($/kWh), not power ($/kW). Energy storage on the grid is reaching a turning point.
