The Trophy, an international award presented by the Club in association with Bosch Engineering GmbH and supported by the RYA and Green-Blue, was inaugurated in 2007 and is presented for the development of new forms of hybrid power. The Green Motion system is a full-electric retractable propulsion and generation system for sailing yachts.

In typical, low speed off-road use it can last for up to eight hours before recharging. Range is more than 50 miles (80 km).

Scientists and engineers have extended the range of EVs by cramming ever more energy into their batteries, and vehicle charging networks have expanded in many countries.
