The Government on 12th May 2021 approved a Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for manufacturing of Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) in the country in order to bring down prices of batteries in the country. Drop-in battery price will result in cost reduction of electric vehicles. 15,000/KWh from Rs. for a period of five years.

The environmental benefits of the scrappage scheme is certainly open for debate - but drivers that pick up the ultra-green new SEAT Ibiza SC Ecomotive will certainly be doing their bit for the cause. The vehicle is powered by a 1.4litre TDI three-cylinder engine and has a diesel particulate filter as standard.

Having been boosted by scrappage scheme sales in Europe, Japanese manufacturer Suzuki wants to see a similar scheme implemented in Australia. The call from Suzuki comes shortly after its introduction of the small, five-door Alto, which is priced around $13,000 in Australia.
