The Plug-in Car Grant will be distributed directly to consumers at the point of purchase and will be managed in a similar way to the grant made as part of the Government’s scrappage scheme. Cars will be discounted at the point of purchase and the subsidy claimed by the manufacturer to provide a straightforward process for the consumer.

(M&M) is acquiring a majority share in REVA Electric Car Co Ltd. REVA Electric Car Co Ltd. will be renamed Mahindra REVA Electric Vehicle Co Ltd. equity in Mahindra REVA via a combination of equity purchase from the promoters and a fresh equity infusion of over Rs 45 crores (approx US $10 million) into the company.

The market electric vehicles (EVs) in Europe could potentially grow to 480,000 units by 2015, according to a new report by business research and consultancy firm, Frost & Sullivan. Government involvement in EV initiatives has been visible, but efforts towards realising commercialisation are unclear in some cases.
