Eaton Corp. recently entered into a five-year agreement with Western Michigan University (WMU) to invest in and jointly staff a 1,000-square-foot testing lab to focus on hybrid drive systems for commercial and military vehicles. That hybrid hydraulic drive work also involves collaboration with WMU’s CAViDS.

We’re a step closer to the introduction of a Mercedes-Benz hybrid truck after the Eaton Corporation supplied key power technology for the Mercedes-Benz BlueTec Atego Hybrid. The vehicle will be part of a new range of Mercedes-Benz Atego trucks and is the first hybrid truck in Europe to gain European Type Approval.

The FedEx fleet of hybrid-electric vehicles has leapt by more than 50 per cent from 172 to 264 after the company added 92 hybrid-electric trucks to its delivery fleet by converting existing models. President Barack Obama previewed a pioneering plug-in hybrid truck project this week developed by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) in collaboration with the Eaton Corporation and Ricardo plc.
