Range and Charging Our Mustang Mach-E Premium AWD was equipped with the 91 kWh of usable charge extended range battery. In our case it was as, traveling through four states, California, Nevada, Arizona and Utah, having the extended battery made the trip worry-free. All seem perfectly comfortable in the shared experience.

Some will be electric-only, others will be extended-range vehicles in which a gasoline engine will generate electricity on board after about 40 miles of driving on a fully charged battery. They will also compete against new hybrids from Ford, Toyota ( TM ) and Honda ( HMC ), which are entering the market now.

The head of Chryslers ENVI division, Lou Rhodes, told AutoblogGreen this morning that Chrysler is marketing this battery-only version of the van to commercial fleet customers who typically have shorter range requirements. The extended-range version will be focused on retail customers.

For extended range I guess one could carry a fairly modest generator set in the trunk to avoid ever being stranded. and your Honda/Sony car will be perfectly happy with any Durcell/Energizer pack just like AA calls in your flashlight. my idea is that it would work the way propane tanks work now.
