Ford India has completed the expansion of its engine plant in Chennai, India, increasing annual engine production capacity 36% to 340,000, helping transform the facility into a regional small engine hub. HC and Duratorq engines will be exported to markets such as South Africa, Thailand and Taiwan.

When the expansion program is completed in mid-2012, the engine plant’s production capacity will increase from 250,000 to 330,000 units per year, an additional output of 80,000 diesel engines annually. The expansion of diesel engine production capacity will bring Ford’s total investment in India to more than US$1 billion.
